Update of bug #30284 (project octave):

                  Status:                    None => Works For Me           
             Open/Closed:                    Open => Closed

Follow-up Comment #1:

There was a problem with previous Octave versions when permissions/ownership
on the current directory were not available.  This has been fixed and while I
could repeat your issue with an old version (3.0.5) the development version no
longer crashes.
