Well, nss-mysql does not do caching (well it does some very limited form
of it and only for iterative requests).  People used to have problems
with nscd and other nss modules authors were also reporting problems.
That's why the note was added.

But I recently heard from people that it is now working fine for them,
so you might want to give it a shot.
