Have you tried the following?

  repl -filter mhl.replywithoutbody -convertargs text/html '' -convertargs 
text/plain '' "$@"

That mhl file includes the attribution line.  mhn.defaults
uses sed to insert the leading '> '.  I override that in
my profile with an emacs-based approach, just mentioning
that to show that there is flexibility.
