The book, "Rand and the Information Evolution A History in Essays and Vignettes" by Willis H Ware, Rand Corporation 2008, contains about 10 pages of MH history.
Sorry if this is a dupe, but I don't recall anyone mentioning that you can download a PDF of this document from RAND:

The MH work is covered in chapter 6 and is mandatory reading for anyone
doing nmh development.
