Here is how I was able to install nmh on my ibook (using the rc shell):

$ cvs -z3 -d:pserver:address@hidden:/sources/nmh co nmh

$ cd nmh

$ autoconf

$ autoheader

$ LDFLAGS = -dynamic configure --enable-debug --enable-pop --with-editor'='$EDITOR --prefix'='$HOME/hier

$ make

$ sudo make install
