They're not a complete waste, but sometimes I think they're time unwisely
spent. With the power of various tools and languages being available,
some rapid prototyping and "mucking in" is often better than discussion.
It's very difficult, if not downright misguided, to discuss what is too
far outside current usage. Most issues don't make themselves known until
usage begins, IMHO.
