Chiming in here.  I don't really use the linter, but some of the
proposed design decisions are problematic.

Benno Schulenberg:

I'd agree with Brand here: using selectedcolor for text that isn't
actually selected is misleading.  And if it impacts accessibility,
that's another problem.

Brand Huntsman:

Using NOTICE this way also seems odd to me if it's tied only to the
linter.

This is a good idea.  If we have "errorcolor" for important error
messages, why not have a "noticecolor" for important non-error messages
with the NOTICE status type, instead of trying to stretch the existing
design?
