Good to know.  I tested M-Del on my end, using verbatim input to see
what escape sequence it generates, and it consistently generates "Esc [
3 ; 3 ~"  on xfce4-terminal, xterm, rxvt, Eterm, KDE5's konsole, and
LxQT's qterminal.

(By default, Xfce4 binds Alt-Delete to "delete last workspace", but
that's easily enough disabled; and if not, Escape followed by Delete can
accomplish the same thing under nano.)
