Argh... make that version 3e.  The row counting adjustments in
read_file() are no longer unnecessary and/or all over the function.  I
finally figured out how to count from fileptr to current[current_x]
using similar code to that in do_uncut_text(); the line numbers were
messed up because the file is partitioned when inserting a file, but
partitioning it doesn't renumber it.
