Hmm... the undoredo.cut_eol.patch does not fix the problem
for me.  It has even become worse: sometimes bunches of
random characters are inserted.

To reproduce (with current SVN and your patch applied):

    src/nano  +5,39  ChangeLog

And then type:

<M-K>  ^K  ^K  ^K  <M-U>
<M-E>  <M-U>  <M-E>  <M-U>  <M-E>  <M-U>...

The line "Make 'meta_key' and 'func_key'" gets added
again and again, and sometimes extra other stuff.
