Um, okay scratch that.  David you don't give yourself quite enough
credit.  There's a REDICULOUS improvement in CPU utilization.  At least
from the trivial tests runs I was just giving your patch there seems to
be about a 60% decrease in CPU load.  If it's going to go in, it is
going to have to be now so we can get some feedback before 1.2.  Will 
look it over once or twice more but it should be able to go in.
