I'll look at this. One minor problem with using -n,
though: it breaks compatibility with pico.

In other news, I've put together a patch which merges your
fillCols patch, David Benbennick's help browser fixes, etc.
patch, and my fix for the regexp searching bug (and adds
changelog entries for them all). The only changes I've
made are to make the code spacing a bit more consistent,
move ^Space and M-Space in the help browser's list of
shortcuts so that ^Space is the last ^shortcut and M-Space
is the first M-shortcut, and reformat one of the long
strings used in the context-sensitive help so that there
isn't a very short portion of it on only one line. I'm
going to try to get the ok to commit this (although I plan
on a bit more testing before actually committing it,
assuming I get the ok); the patch is at:

http://pooka_regent.tripod.com/patches/nano/nanocddbdlrmisc2-patch.txt

After that, I'll get to the other pending patches.

BTW, I think I've stumbled across another bug: if you're in
the help browser (whether general or context-sensitive) and
you resize the terminal window, you're dropped back to the
edit window. I'll look into it.
