When a pdf file is viewed in the Firefox window, the first page shows alright, 
but there is no way to turn pages.

gpdf keyboard shortcuts still work when it has been launched under
Firefox via the mozilla-bonobo plugin.

Use PgUp/PgDn to change pages and +/- to zoom in/out.
