i don't get it but without a AC_CHECK_HEADERS before AC_PROG_CXX it
does not work?!?
moving the unistd.h check up to the CXXFLAGS test, it works for me
Hmmm. That also worked for me.
but i don't really know why it failed...
I don't either, but I don't really care. I'm quite accustomed to the
overwhelming majority of systems exhibiting what I consider grossly
unacceptable side effects and temporal dependencies ("We won't tell you
how they're related, but you have to do X first, then Y, then Z...") So
apparently autoconf/automake are merely another such system. Thanks for
tracking the problem down for me!
By the way, at least on Mac OS X, I also had to edit rcs_file.cc to add:
#include "config.h"
#if HAVE_FCNTL_H
#include <fcntl.h>
#endif
to get open() and O_RDONLY.
