I encourage you to start the DM process no matter what. Taking
ownership of Botan is, of course, necessary to ensure continued presence
of monotone in Debian. So I approve of your decision and I will sponsor
the Botan package for you until you become DM.
Co-maintainers are most welcome. Richard, what say you?
