Ok, a second look at things revealed that it was better to config in /etc/monit/monitrc then in /etc/default/monit.

Hello, I’m running monit on ubuntu 7.10 sparc platform and my monit fails to start.

address@hidden:~# /etc/init.d/monit start

/etc/default/monit: 18: check: not found

If I strace it looks for a ”check” program. I can’t find any program named check anywhere.

Does anyone know something about this?

read(11, "# Defaults for monit initscript\n"..., 8192) = 868

stat64("/sbin/check", 0xffad9360)       = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)

stat64("/bin/check", 0xffad9360)        = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)

stat64("/usr/sbin/check", 0xffad9360)   = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)

stat64("/usr/bin/check", 0xffad9360)    = -1 ENOENT (No such file or directory)

write(2, "/etc/default/monit: 18: ", 24/etc/default/monit: 18: ) = 24

write(2, "check: not found", 16check: not found)        = 16

write(2, "\n", 1

)                       = 1

close(11)                               = 0

exit_group(127)                         = ?

Process 6542 detached

cheers, J
