I have made a "create_generic_socket" function in net.c to be fed with
a Port_T. I tidied up validate.c which no longer needs to know with
kind of socket it is, by have in an address (human readable
destination) entry in Port_T with is inserted in the logfile instead.

Gnus is definitely the better MUA and I do nearly everything else with
Xemacs (except for my tea and my toast). I had several attempts to
configure it in my existing mail mess. But the result is still: Pine
handles the mails and I have a gnuclient with message mode to as an
external editor.

And actually I like the handling of pine all I need to do in the
morning is to stress my TAB and look through all the many, many mail
boxes. Just some little points are annoying in pine, but it works and
it never let me down in the past (like tin for news reading).

And now for something completely different...

* The pidfile of monit should be configurable via conffile. It also
  makes coding much easier. (-:

* Something hypothetical: Monit runs (thats not hypothetical (-: ) and
it checks a pidfile or tests the md5 of a file and those files are
on a mounted NFS... and network breaks... then monit is blocked
until network is back. I know it's not wise to put server stuff on
the net and esp. pids and so on (if it is mounted hard you cant
even wake it up). But it's just a thought of mine... to think
  about.

Bye,
