Greetings,I've been attempting to port man-db to Cygwin (and bothering Colin about it), and I ran into an issue which I believe is not Cygwin related.
When building from scratch, having MANPATH set to anything causes the "man-9" test to fail during "make check"
In addition, depending on the value of MANPATH, the test "man-6" may fail as well. I have researched and duplicated the first issue on an LFS system, which is where I discovered the second issue. I have not done any research into the second.
It appears to me from doing a little debugging that if MANPATH is set, that any manpath directories in the conf file are ignored. This causes the "man-9" test failure.
For now I just unset MANPATH in both the man-9 and the man-6 tests, but this appears to be an actual bug, if I understand the MANPATH behavior correctly.
