Agreed,
if such can be incorporated now, not only does lynx become even more flexible than it already is, but such can raise the profile for lynx in general. Especially for those who want access to video but cannot manage it any other way.
brings up a question, and forgive me if a baby one.
When will the stable release be out, and will it incorporate this feature?

2.8.8dev.10 - I'm not sure. It's awkward since it's a small change...

Right now the programs demanding the most time are dialog and xterm. I have some changes that I'd like to make to lynx (display problems with the maximize feature added for win32), and have only gotten from outside just this one patch (there was a part of another patch...).

Usually what gets my attention is (a) big bug or (b) big patch.

Hm. Is it really worth being so concerned about this? Ian Hickson has
said that the ETA of HTML5 final is 2022. It just seems to me to be too
much of a moving target to really worry about at this time.

It is a stable part of the specification that is in pretty wide use today.
