wget is specifically targetted at scripted downloads. Obviously, for HTTP, there will need to be a page that lists all the URLs (as you are unlikely to get an automatically generated index page these days.

RFC1855 says there should be an address here, but, in a world of spam,
that is no longer good advice, as archive address hiding may not work.
