lynx-dev Multilingual domain names ?

I'm in Brazil and just read the following:

"For the domains .com .org .net, now it's possible to register
names with the characters: ã õ ç á é o etc !"

Anyway, Lynx returns the following:

http://www.açã -> Invalid hostname www.açã
www.açã -> Badly formed address www.açã

Mozilla eats all CPU.
