This does not answer your question, but I just confirmed that I am
still able to use lynx with my Schwab account.

I just checked my account balances.. didn't try to do a trade.
Note that I used 'Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.0; really Lynx)'
as my useragent string to log in, or else schwab won't let me in.

Java and javascript are completely unrelated. Alas, lynx doesn't handle either.
