This isn't something new. DOS/Win9x programs requiring path arguments
frequently don't run from programs ported from unix, since forward
slashes for paths may not be recognized. The Win9x binary used to
be distributed with a binary of "cp.exe" for exactly this reason.
The routine distribution of cp stopped when copying from the temp
directory (as part of DOWNLOAD) was made internal in the DOS and Win9x
ports. Shell scripts or batch files can usually be constructed to get
around the problems of using DOS/Win9x programs directly.

Since many of the DOS/Windows porting problems may be
compiler-dependent, it would also be helpful if the compiler were
specified in the report.
