terminfo (this works well enough for people who just want to use vi):

ms-vt100|MS telnet imitating dec vt100,
        tbc@, u6=\E[%i%d;%dR, u7=\E[6n, u8=\E[?6c, u9=\E[c,

(vt100's of course don't have il1 and dl1, but that's an faq).
