Hello,
I am trying to install Lynx on an Alpha server running OpenVMS 7.1. The
Lynx documentation indicates that I first need to download and install
gzip. I tried that but found that it would not compile properly using DEC
C, even after I replaced a reference to SYS$LIBRARY:VAXCRTL.EXE with
SYS$LIBRARY:DECC$CRTL.EXE. I also downloaded a copy of GNU C (gcc), but it
also looks for the VAX C (instead of the DEC C) run time library.
Does Lynx absolutely require the installation of gzip, and if so, where
might I find a copy that will compile using DEC C?
