using 2-8-1rel.1 the PRE block comes out correctly;
i also copied your version to a file & viewed it with Lynx ditto.
you can get 2-8-1 from www.slcc.edu/lynx/release/ .
NB <PRE WIDE> is not valid HTML:
<PRE WIDTH=n> is valid, where n is a number;
presumably, Lynx ignores the unknown attribute.
also, Lynx appears to recognise the header within the PRE block,
which should be incorrect: everything inside should appear literally.
apparently, the weather in East Anglia is as miserable as usual (smile).
