Is there really reason enough to make any change?

Few enough people remap the key bindings.  Those who do, probably
have good reasons.

So for now, I would vote no: don't pull anything out of the
mappable set of commands.

And for how it should be spelled on the informational message,
it is probably good to stick with the spelling 

        l)ist

in the same way as in the novice cheater at the foot of the
screen.

The word "document" is entirely wasted text in this message.  Try

  [All links hidden; use l)ist command to see URLs.]

Then if for some reason l is not bound to LIST they can at least
know that when they go to the keymap they should look for what is
bound to "list."
