The statement that you can only get attribute-linked color with
the slang library is not true.

PS They tell me to pack my bags for tomorrow.  Sorry, but the chances
of working on a suitable compromise for fg/bg combinations is almost
nil.  Anyway, as Tom says, working on a selectable default background
is the way to handle the problem in the long run.
