The magic work I have heard in the past was "server-side includes." This was a name for the extra service that you had to make sure your page host offered. I believe the reference Laura gave is of this general nature. In HTML 4.0 the OBJECT element lets you put a reference to a CGI or other source of dynamic text in the HTML itself. -- Al Gilman
