One more chartrans bug detected:
I have display=cp866 and the document in iso-8859-1 with META,
while browsing I got letters >7F, Lynx thought I have display=iso-latin-1 !

The document http://www.alis.com:8085/ietf/html/
was saved locally as file://localhost/htmli18n.htm

"=" says:

You have reached the Information Page

Lynx Version 2.7.1ac-0.81

File that you are currently viewing

   Linkname: Internationalisation of HTML
        URL: file://localhost/htmli18n.htm
    Charset: iso-8859-1
            ^^^^^^^^^^^
   Owner(s): None
       size: 159 lines
       mode: normal

Link that you currently have selected

   Linkname: FranГois Yergeau
        URL: http://www.alis.com/~yergeau/

And rendering "\" returns:

You have reached the Information Page

Lynx Version 2.7.1ac-0.81

File that you are currently viewing

   Linkname: Internationalisation of HTML
        URL: file://localhost/htmli18n.htm
    Charset: cp866 (assumed)
            ^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
   Owner(s): None
       size: 189 lines
       mode: normal

No Links on the current page

After I set display=7 bit approx manually from O)ptions
I got necessary approximation (but not in source).

Please CC: the reply (if any).
