LYNX-DEV bug in lynx Lynx Version 2.7.1 (1997) with .gz and .html.gz files

You see, I was trying to do:

lynx HTTP://SUNSITE.UNC.EDU/pub/Linux/ls-lR.html.gz, and then you can
see it took lots of memory.  You can see the filesize yourself.  It
never produced output.  Also, you can go try it yourself on the site
mentioned.  The problem happens with both ls-lR.gz and ls-lR.html.gz.
Lynx tries to decompress and goes haywire.  I wanted to look at it
within Lynx.

Proof that it's lynx: downloading the file and invoking less on it works
great:

Interlude: other Lynx ideas:

* * Create a pager library out of "less", "more", "cat", etc.
  * Use the pager libraries rather than the stupid Lynx library
  * Note that this would be an interesting Unix interfacing layering
    excersize.

Note that the first time I ran it, I let it go to about 30M before I
killed it (I was swapping!)  Linux has weird memory usage reports, but
what Unix doesn't?
