Thank you, to the nth degree for pointing me to this!
Since last Oct I have been "planning" to install lynx on an AIX system but
have not had the time to study all the docs from a UNIX standpoint to find
out how to do this from the source files.
So today I went to ftp://aixpdslib.seas.ucla.edu/pub/lynx/RISC/4.1/exec
saved the lynx.2-7.tar.Z file on my VMS host, ftp-d it to my AIX host and
after about only 10 minutes of defining new aliases and paths, patting the
lynx.cfg, and setting some options, I was up and running happily on the
AIX. Maybe not as perfectly an on VMS, but good enough.
