no.  It's a kludge that relies on using xterm (or rxvt, which implements a
subset of the xterm mouse stuff).  (The kmous code is set to the first
couple of characters from the control sequence that denotes a mouse click). 
The Linux console mouse (gpm) is done by another method (selecting from a
second file descriptor).
