-- so having compiled 2-7 successfully, i just checked it out
   & the same thing happened again: with 22 bookmarks in the file
   & the hilite on [21] i entered  r
   & (after confirmation) [22] was deleted.
-- this is non-trivial: no backup file is created
   & someone who relies on the bookmark file with no other record
   could delete an important bookmark.
-- as i said before: either  r  should work correctly
   or it shouldn't be there.
-- oh, and while the subject is raised,
   WHY doesn't Lynx create a backup bookmark file after deleting an item
   (it does -- since 2-6 -- respect UNIX  noclobber  when downloading) ?
