Larry wrote concerning the posibility of making the next Lynx release a 3.0.

I would like to see a few things in the mix before that happens. First, I 
would love to see the other two branches folded in with VMS support fixed for
them. I would also like to see some GNU make/install technology folded in.

I think that Fote's branch would make a good 2.7 version (we'd want a good
testing phase first, right?) but that we should try rolling in some of the
other stuff for a 3.0 version.
