Dunno if this is specific enough for you: The application where I
was looking for an API to be defined was installation and
configuration.  Some functions that I would expect here are a)
data validity checks (including rules that cross fields) to be
done client-side for a form prior to posting and b) dealing with
the host system, for example finding resources like downloaders
and offering the user/installer "Kermit" rather than expecting
the user to find Kermit and spell out an absolute path into
lynx.cfg.  The steps that Henry does to merge his personal
preferences into the newly distributed lynx.cfg is a great
opportunity for a script.
