I couldn't find any place in the source where Lynx would look at the
string that is defined as viewer command, and make a decision whether
to allow it or not based on whether it is a unix pipe (with a '|') or
not.
You wrote that 'gunzip | /home/.most/most'; but I assume that you omitted
a %s somewhere in there?
I still think the line I gave (quoted above) should work _IF_ the account
under which Lynx is running has adequate system permissions to execute
/home/.most/most _AND_ to create and access temporary files in (probably)
/tmp/.

How about "Don't use more than {one,two} occurrences of %s in the
{VIEWER,DOWNLOADER,...} command", maybe decorated with some exclamation
marks?
