Try 'type cc' to see which cc you are using (/usr/bin/cc or /usr/ucb/cc).
Change the Makefile so that /usr/ccs/lib/libcurses.a is forced to link in.

I got the feeling that the ucb stuff got included/linked and that caused
you problems.
