There are many users of lwip as it is.So the version number or the beta
label on savannah might be misleading.It still has bugs and product status
won't change that for sure.Depending on the product you want to use it for
it might or might not be ready in its current state.
You can use the 6.0rc1 snapshot to get started and evaluate it because CVS
happens to break from time to time :).But it gets fixed quickly.

Slowly.

There are two free PPP implementations I know about but they are not
yet in the public repository.Their authors might tell you what (if
anything) is still lacking

You can add RTP support for instance or just test and report/fix bugs.
