the checksum problem has been discussed before and seems
like it is an alignment problem.
In my case and another posters's case 4byte alignment was required
for the data sent by the http server.
And it's not the checksum routine that was sensitive to alignment
but the ARM (in my case) cannot read from non word aligned address.
