Follow-up Comment #25, bug #1902 (project lwip):

I'm not sure I understand the significance of what you're getting at (I'm not
up to speed on the nitty-gritty of this one) but I wouldn't worry too much
about breaking things in contrib - a lot of them are already out of date, and
are going to be archived, and anything that isn't will have an active
maintainer to deal with things like this.
