Follow-up Comment #12, patch #5448 (project lwip):

I can see your problem, but I'd regard this as very low priority.  There is a
straightforward workaround (don't use LWIP_COMPAT_SOCKETS and edit your
application to call the appropriate lwip functions) so it won't be causing
big problems for users.
