That's been done already, it's called SDF...

If someone can create a Lout filter, a lot of SDF users would be very
grateful, believe me... And probably a lot of currently complaining Lout
users, too.

First the XML-ization proposal, now this... Why this growing tendency to
advocate the conversion of Lout in something that it isn't?

I, for one, am very happy with Lout as it is.
