Book problems

I'm just trying out lout for the forst time. I have a book file which
I think corresponds to the layout described on page 55-56 of the User
manual:

@SysInclude{book}
@Book
//
@Text @Begin
  .
  .

but when I run lout on this I get:

lout testbook > test.ps
lout file "testbook":
     2,1: unresolved cross reference @Runner&&following
     2,1: unresolved cross reference @Runner&&following
     4,1: symbol @Text unknown or misspelt
    69,1: unknown or misspelt symbol @Text after @End deleted
    68,1: @End replaced by @End @Begin to match @Begin at "testbook" 5,1
    7,21 fatal error: initial font must have family, face and size

Can anyone tell me what these messages mean and what I am doing wrong?
