PostScript to ASCII

One FAQ about Lout is "can it produce ASCII" and my
answer is always "no, you need a PostScript-to-ASCII
converter."  I noticed that the latest DWB release
from Bell Labs (troff etc.) contains

        new programs to display PostScript files on
        ASCII terminals, and to compute the size of
        PC-generated PostScript pictures;

which sounds like it might be the solution.  Cost
of DWB is $5000 for universities and $20000 for
commercial.  Hands up who would pay $20000 for troff?
