I have upgraded both wx and the compiler, and rebuilt everything,
and so far I have found no problem. Certainly all automated tests
pass here.

As you had recommended, I've used this wx version:

/opt/lmi/third_party/repositories/wxWidgets[0]$git log -1

Yes, please. The best time to do that is now, because we're upgrading
other things and need to test the whole system carefully anyway.
