The effect is not the same.
\transpose c c'' \absolute ...
is the same as
\transpose c c'' ...
while
\fixed c'' \absolute ...
is the same as
\transpose c c ...
since \fixed, like \relative and \absolute, does not affect music that
has already been turned into absolute in some manner.
This may be quite relevant when working with music variables.
