Re: Having some trouble getting LilyPond to run on the command line

Thanks for your help Federico (and David).

As to posting a question in multiple places, I don't see that as a problem. Different online communities have different specialties and knowledge areas. As you can see, very few LilyPond users saw my post on stackoverflow... so I came here instead. At worst, redundancy increases the chance that some other neophyte LilyPond user, struggling with the same issue, will find an answer to their question.

Thanks again,
Daniel

I guess that you don't know what ~ means.
That page is written by a Linux-minded/command-line user and a Mac user may not understand it well.

When you save the file called lilypond using your favorite editor, make sure you save it in the folder bin under your home directory.

Disclaimer: I've never used a Mac!

PS Bug Squad
Should we add a issue to update the Mac Os X page?

Daniel,

instead of asking the same question elsewhere¹, you'd better try to
understand what you made wrong and maybe study the basics of command
line usage.

We'd be glad to help if you can show us what you did exactly.
Open a terminal, start from step 1 and when you get stuck copy&paste
all the text in the terminal and send it here.
