If, by whole note you mean a semi-breve in UK-English, or a 4-beat note, how do you fit the 4 beats into 3/4 time?

I'm certain this is online somewhere but I just can't find it. How do I tell Lilypond I want a whole note?

}

These have a value of 4 quarters so that doesn't work.
