this is the original score the composer sent me from finale. i used \markup { \normal-text "2. ×:" } (see snipped png).

urs:
the composer titled the piece "Piano Piece 3" so i don't think there should be a problem using english. i'll see what he thinks…

If the title is English you surely can write "2nd time only" as Phil suggested.
What about other performance indications throughout the piece?
